Teaching School Hubs (TSHs), like us here at Inspire, are centres of excellence that act as a central resource to lead on all things training and development, ensuring teachers are equipped with the latest pedagogical knowledge to deliver the very best education for all children and young people.
Whether we’re supporting an early career teacher just starting out on their exciting journey or honing an experienced teacher’s leadership skills as they look to advance into their next role, at Inspire we have a team of experts who can always be relied upon to support schools and teachers.
With a combined experience totalling more than 100 years of working in the education sector, there is nothing our team hasn’t come across and can’t help with. From supporting individuals who may be facing personal circumstances that could be impacting the completion of statutory induction through to working with large multi-academy trusts to determine how to best support their extensive team of teachers and delivering professional development programmes directly to them, we can, and have, done it all.
TSHs are at the core of the Department for Education’s (DfE) ‘golden thread’ model that was designed to deliver world-class teacher development. It’s our mission to provide the best opportunities to inspire teachers and leaders and transform lives, and as specialists in the field we do this day-in, day-out, by providing:
- High-quality resources – when schools and teachers complete training and development with us, they gain access to tried-and-tested, strategic learning resources that align with the DfE’s policies.
- Access to expertise – we act as a single-point of contact for schools and teachers to get professional and personalised advice, guidance and support without having to go through multiple different communication channels.
Director of Inspire Learning TSH, Jane Kennedy, comments: “Having been in the profession for more than 30 years as a teacher, head of department, assistant headteacher and director of teacher training and school-to-school support, I have witnessed the various models that have been introduced over the decades to aid the development of teachers at every stage of their career.
“The introduction of the TSHs in August 2021 truly changed the direction of teacher training and continuous professional development for the better. Whilst the previous model, that included a network of over 700 individual teaching schools supporting other schools, worked to a certain extent, it didn’t have the same reach.
“By moving to hubs and covering a larger geographic area, we can offer the programmes accredited and quality assured by the DfE to a greater number of schools. In turn this increases the consistency of provision for teachers and leaders and is positively impacting professional development.
“We know the first few years in a teacher’s career are vital and the introduction of the TSHs has also allowed all early career teachers (ECTs) to receive high-quality training, and subsequently deliver world-class teaching, regardless of their individual school’s circumstances.
“To date, we’ve worked with over 2,200 mentors and more than 3,000 ECTs who have successfully worked through the Early Career Framework (ECF). With the Early Career Teacher Entitlement (ECTE) programme coming into place from September 2025, we’re ready to continue supporting ECTs, mentors and schools across Liverpool and Wirral.”
Don’t forget, if you’ve employed or will be employing an ECT for September 2025, you must ensure you have your two-year programme ready, register them no later than the second week of the academic year and assign them to an Appropriate Body (that’s our role too!). Registration is open now, so what are you waiting for?
