Why you chose to train at SJP
I chose to train at SJP because of the school’s reputation and after speaking to staff knowing that it would be a really supportive and nurturing environment to train as a teacher in.
What you enjoyed about training at SJP
Being made to feel like a member of the team from day one rather than just an add on. I trained in a really supportive department and enjoyed being able to approach my mentor, Head of Department and other experienced staff for support at any time.
Throughout my training I taught a range of different classes and had experience from Key stage 3 right through to key stage 5. Pastoral experience working with different form groups and lots of bespoke training that was specific to my subject but also about general pedagogy and practice which made me a much stronger teacher.
Why you would recommend coming to SJP for teacher training
The support at SJP is second to none- training to teach can be a really difficult year so finding somewhere to train with high levels of support and practical advice is key. SJP offers a wide range of different subjects to train in as well as having some really experienced staff in charge of training and mentoring.
